How Do You Format For Canadian Addresses?

There is a very specific way to write a Canadian address. These addresses are civic in nature, which means that they have a postal code instead of a zip code. Aside from the postal code, you must also include the country's name below the mailing address. After the country's name, you should write the name of the recipient, which should be the first line of the envelope. You should also use capital letters throughout the address.

The first line of a Canadian address should include the city name, then the province and finally the country's name. In the case of the last line, Canada Post doesn't require the use of a comma, but you can use it if you're using the address on a website or business card. The next line of the address should include the province abbreviation and postal code. The postal code should not contain any hyphens.

The postal code is a six-character string that begins with the city name. Then, follow the city name with the postal code. Then, add a space between the province and the postal code. After the address, include the name of the sender and the building number. When you're done, write the street name and the city, state, and ZIP code on the final line. Make sure that the entire address is legible.
